Two days’ workshop was organised for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Female Health Workers with support of Community Health Centres of Baddi and Nalagarh. The objective of organising this meeting was to build capacity of the grass root level health workers to provide better care and counselling for improved maternal and child health services.
The facilitator for the training were Dr. P.K. Goswami, Technical Advisor and Ms. Abhiti Gupta, Programme Manager with the support and arrangement by IGD team of Baddi, Nalagarh with the esteemed presence of Dr. K.D. Jassal, Block Medical Officer, Mr. Shashi Pal, Block Health Educator, Nalagarh Block and Mr. Suman Humar, HR Manager, Glenmark Baddi and Mr. Sunil Soni, Plant Head, Glenmark, Nalagarh. In Baddi there were around 76 participants and in Nalagarh there were 81 participants.
Then Dr. K.D Jassal, BHO, Nalagarh was welcomed by Dr. P.K.Goswami who shared some views with the FHWs & ASHAs regarding the Maternal and child health and how Kavach Project under IGD is creating awareness among community and is improving maternal and child health in the block for the last five years. He encouraged IGD and its staff to enhance and do more work at the grass root level to upgrade and enhance the health status of Maternal and child health.
The methodology followed for the workshop included group work, interactive discussion, film screening and lecture method. After introducing IGD and its work in the field of maternal and child health, pre assessment form were distributed among the participants with 12 questions to access their knowledge of the issue of discussion and move forward from there.
